CHANDIGARH, Sept 10: Aiming to ensure supply of hygienically-prepared food in the state, all the Food Business Operators (FBOs) engaged in supply through the online food delivery aggregator companies have been directed to ensure the hygiene rating of their establishments by October 31, 2019, failing which, appropriate action under the law would be initiated, Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration, Punjab KS Pannu said here.
He said the hygiene rating of the establishments can be accomplished through any of the 23 companies empanelled with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
Earlier in May, the online food delivery aggregator companies operating in Punjab like Zomato, Swiggy, Uber Eats and Food Panda, were asked to ensure that FBOs associated with them get the hygiene rating of their establishment conducted.
Subsequently, the online food business aggregators sought time to ensure the hygiene rating of the FBOs associated with them and also requested the Commissionerate that the FBOs should also be directed to get the hygiene rating of their establishments conducted pro-actively. He said in line with this, all the designated officers in the state have been directed to supervise the process and obtain the lists of FBOs enlisted or associated with various online food delivery aggregator companies, in order to ensure the hygiene rating of all such FBOs, within the stipulated time.
