SRINAGAR, Feb 23: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid glowing tribute to former General Secretary and party stalwart Sheikh Nazir Ahmad on his 10th death anniversary.
In his message, Dr Farooq said, “virtues like sincerity, conviction, perseverance and loyalty, which are rare among the contemporary breed of politicians formed the template of Sheikh Nazir’s personal life and politics”.
“Uncompromising on his principles and beliefs, which he had inherited from Sheikh Abdullah, Nazir was a go-to person for all party workers. He was a strong-spirited person whose contribution towards strengthening the party at the grass-root level will be remembered for all the times to come”.
In his message, CM Omar Abdullah said, “Sheikh Nazir was a pillar of strength for the party. He was looked up to for inspiration by all. The best tribute to him on his death anniversary would be to imbibe the zest with which he served the party.”
Offering glowing tribute to Nazir, party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar said, “he belonged to the tribe of those great men and women, who suffered immensely alongside Sheikh Abdullah for the restoration of the rights of the people of J&K”.
Among others, Additional General Secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Provincial President Showkat Mir, Senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Mubarak Gul, Shameema Firdous, Sakina Itoo, Sharief Ud Din Shariq, Political Advisor to President Mushtaq Guroo, Political Advisor to VP Mudassir Shamiri, MPs Mian Altaf Ahmad, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi; State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, YNC Provincial Presidents Salman Ali Sagar, Aijaz Jan also paid glowing tribute to Sheikh Nazir.
