‘Cong, NC, PDP playing dangerous competitive separatism’

JAMMU, Apr 28 : Maintaining that Vajpayee doctrine on Kashmir was for the amicable resolution of the issue within the framework of Indian Constitution, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that there is no deviation from that by the present NDA Government at Delhi led by Narendra Modi.
He also warned that in a bid to woo a certain vote bank in Kashmir Valley, Congress, National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are playing a dangerous game of competitive separatism during election campaign.
In an informal chat with media persons here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Vajpayee’s doctrine of Jamhuriyat was for wider participation of people in democracy. He accused the National Conference (NC) for being stumbling block in application of Vajpayee formula. “It was NC which never allowed this doctrine to apply to continue the dynastic rule’’, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while ridiculing Dr Farooq Abdullah’s statement that Modi failed to carry forward legacy of Vajpayee, said Prime Minister is actually endorsing this formula.
He asked that what is contribution of Dr Abdullah so far as establishment of Jamhuriyat is concerned in the State. He said Sheikh Abdullah dynasty has played with the sentiments of three generations of Kashmiris. Farooq and his party sinned against Kashmiris by selling false dreams to them, he added.
While accusing the party for playing a fraud with Kashmiriyat, Dr Jitendra Singh said it was the Sheikh Abdullah father of Dr Farooq Abdullah who first floated Muslim Conference (MC) and then Plebiscite Front to exploit the sentiments of Kashmiris and distanced them from rest of country. This way they created a division among various communities which itself was a great disservice to Kashmiriyat, he added.
This all was done by the family to flourish the dynastic rule in the State over the years, he said.
While commenting on Vajpayee doctrine, he said the former PM had never accepted secessionism and it was he who threw the autonomy resolution of NC into dustbin which Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah accepted meekly.
The Union Minister said Narendra Modi has maintained that he will apply this doctrine with sincerity and spirit.
Later talking to various public delegations which met him, Dr Jitendra Singh warned that in a bid to woo a certain vote bank in Kashmir valley, Congress, National Conference (NC) and PDP have got involved in playing a dangerous game of “competitive separatism” during the election campaign.
Dr Jitendra Singh, said that the dangerous trend which is being witnessed during the election time in Kashmir valley, is going to leave its scars for a long time to come. He lamented that the political parties like the PDP which talk of “healing touch”, are themselves guilty of causing serious wounds on the Kashmir psyche for purely election considerations.
On National Conference (NC), Dr Jitendra Singh recalled that the party which was at the helm of affairs for over three decades when it conveniently allowed the extension of various provisions of Indian Constitution into the Jammu and Kashmir, is now mischievously manipulating the mindset of young Kashmiri voters by sowing the secessionist seed of pre-1953 position.
He said, public memory is not so short as to forget that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had summarily rejected the Autonomy resolution passed by the Farooq Abdullah Government and yet, the father continued as Chief Minister and son as Union MoS, quite unconcerned about the proclaimed stand that they have now taken while contesting the election as an opposition party.
Not sparing even the Congress Party, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is up to its leadership to explain whether, even though claiming to be a national party, do they endorse the stand taken by their allies. He also referred to the semi-separatist jargon resorted to by the Congress candidates during the election campaign in Kashmir Valley.
Among the various delegations, a delegation of Katra residents led by vice president Katra Municipal Committee (KMC), Ajay Baru called on him to express their concerns regarding the Toll Plaza issue. The Minister told the members of delegation that he has already taken up the issue with the Chief Secretary of the State.
