JAMMU, Mar 2: The farmers of Jammu division craved J&K administration towards grim scenario of agriculture and allied sectors due to prevailing situation amid COVID-19 crisis.
They have appealed the administration, especially Principal Secretary Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department, Navin Choudhary to pull them out of the depressing scenario created by the pandemic.
Tajinder Singh Wazir, President J&K Kissan Council and former member of J&K Kissan Board said that he has made specific request to Navin Choudhury to consider financial relief in favour of farm entrepreneurs and commercial/ hi-tech floriculturists too who have invested heavily by taking loans from banks.
The Kisan Council chief has expressed hope that under the guidance and directions of Choudhury, farmers will be able to come out of the grim situation and farmers of entire state will be benefited.
Wazir has invited his attention towards the twin challenge of facilitating doubling farm income by 2022 as per the target set by Government of India and on the other hand the continued bad weather conditions as rains in plains damaged all fruits, vegetables, floriculture crops and now Covid-19.
He said during the ongoing Rabi season too, much of the crop area either remained unsown or it is now likely to be extreme shortage of farm labour for crop harvesting due to the fear of Covid-19.
Wazir appealed for proper implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes related to farmers and the recent orders of Union Ministry of Home Affairs for welfare of farmers.
