Farmers demand proper power, canal water supply

VIJAYPUR, July 20: Farmers today staged a protest demonstration outside Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office here demanding uninterrupted electricity and canal water supply till the tale end villages along the International Border.
Speaking on the occasion, former Minister and Congress General Secretary, Manjit Singh said that farmers are not getting proper power supply properly due to which they cannot use water pumps to irrigate their fields.
He further said that canal water supply has similar situation since tail end villages have been facing neglect and the farmers are left on the mercy of God.
Singh said that Vijaypur-Ramgarh road is in dilapidated condition and the concerned department should look into the issue.
He appealed to the ADC and DC Samba to solve the issues of border people immediately so that they may heave a sigh of relief.
