Fake currency haul, 2 held

REASI, Dec 8: Police have arrested two accused, recovered fake currency worth Rs 6.4 lakh from their possession and seized computers, scanners and other items, which were being used by them in making fake currency.

Police said one of the accused was arrested from Sidhra and he has been identified as Showkat Ahmad son of Abdul Gani Dar R/o Nooupora, Kulgam while his associate Mohammad Maqbool son of Abdul Rasheed R/o Sungri, Chassana in Reasi district was arrested earlier.
Police have recovered total amount of Rs 6,30,950 worth fake currency including 1150 notes in the denomination of 500, 270 notes in denomination of 200 and 19 notes of Rs 50.
Police have also recovered one computer including CPU and Monitor, one scanner, computer keyboard, paper cutting machine, paper cutter and bundle of photocopy papers from Showkat Ahmad at Sidhra, which were being used in making fake currency.
A Special Investigating Team of Reasi Police made the arrests and effective recoveries. The team was led by SDPO Mahore Mujeed-ur-Rehman and comprised SHO Chassana Ali Imran and Head Constable Mohammad Iqbal. It worked under the supervision of SSP Reasi Tahir Sajad Bhat.
