JAMMU, June 30: All J&K Fair Price Shop Ration Dealers held a meeting here in which the ration distribution dealers from across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir took part.
The meeting was held with a view to seek consideration of the Government for redressal of long pending and burning demands of these dealers.
The dealers demanded adjustment/engagement of all these dealers as Rehbar-e-Khuraq in Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, which was also decided in the Cabinet meeting held in the year 2014 and 2018. In these Cabinet decisions, it was proposed to engage these dealers on monthly salary basis.
The All J&K Fair Price Shop Ration Dealers Association condemned the decision of the Government to appoint more ration dealers under ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme, whereas the pending issues of the present dealers have not been redressed.
The carriage charges of the ration dealers are pending since 2014 till date, Ajay Gupta, President All J&K Fair Price Shop Ration Dealers Jammu Province said.
If ‘One Nation One Ration Card’ scheme is implemented in J&K UT then ‘One Nation One Work One Right’ policy should also be implemented in UT J&K, he stated.
The Association also submitted request to the higher authorities to allow the ration dealers to deposit the amount for purchase/supply of ration material from the depots by deducting the carriage and commission amount in advance by the dealers.
“The dealers have been continuously demanding redressal of their demands since 2014, but the department is continuously ignoring these demands, as a result of which the things have gone bad to worst”, Gupta said, adding that the dealers have decided to go on indefinite strike in whole of J&K UT in support of their demands.
The Association demands immediate redressal of grievances positively within 15 days otherwise the department will remain solely responsible for all kinds of consequences arising out.
