JAMMU, Jan 28: An eye camp organized by 150 General Hospital (GH) under Ace of Spade Division concluded today.
The screening camp was held at village Baliarlian district Rajouri on January 10. The camp was to reach out to the rural population and provide them comprehensive eye care.
In the screening camp, a total of 135 patients, comprising of 64 males, 60 females and 11 children with various eye ailments were evaluated and treated. As cataract forms a major portion of treatable cause of blindness in our country, during the camp the patients were screened for cataract and subsequently 30 cataract patients selected in the age group ranging from 40 years to 95 years were operated at 150 General Hospital using the latest stitch less technique of Phacoemul-sification and foldable intraocular lens was implanted free of cost.
The operation was done at the hospital from January 23 to 27 under strict aseptic conditions by eye specialist.
On the concluding day today, the operated patients were also given free drugs and goggles.
The camp was a huge success and helped in bestowing the gift of sight to the poor and underprivileged patients.
