The border people who have been facing worst kind of shelling by Pak rangers for last so many months should be extended every possible help at this critical juncture. Every time there is a stand-off between the two countries, border people face the brunt. This time they have been hard hit. Their plight can be improved only if the Governments-State, Central extend every possible help to them. As they are migrating enmasse leaving behind their home and hearths, it will be quite difficult for them to come to terms with the prevailing circumstances. They have lost their crops, cattle and livelihood.
As there is no imminent end in sight to the stand-off, these border people should be settled at safe zones where they can avail necessary civic amenities. Besides, arrangements should also be made for education of their wards as their annual exams are approaching.
It is not mere duty of the Government of the day to extend help to these people but civil society should also step in at this crucial juncture.
