JAMMU, Apr 15: Amidst the fervor of current electoral season, Jammu Parliamentary Constituency (PC) witnessed first inspection of day-to-day expenses register of its contesting candidates by Nodal Officer for Expenditure Monitoring, Yasir Sharief in presence of Expenditure Observer, Samantha Mullamudi. All Assistant Expenditure Observers were also present during the inspection.
Of the 22 candidates contesting for Parliamentary seats, only 19 candidates and their election agents were present for the initial inspection.
During the inspection discrepancies observed between the candidates’ day-to-day expenses register and the shadow observation register were communicated to the contesting candidates through notices.
Candidates were asked to maintain accurate and detailed records of their campaign expenditures to uphold the integrity of democratic process.
Expenditure Observer, Samantha Mullamudi echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the critical role of robust monitoring mechanisms in safeguarding the fairness and credibility of elections. “Our primary objective is to ensure that electoral expenditures are conducted transparently and in accordance with established guidelines,” she remarked.
The communication of identified irregularities to candidates serves as a call to action, urging them to rectify any discrepancies and adhere strictly to electoral expenditure regulations.
The monitoring team remains committed to conducting further inspections to maintain vigilance over campaign finances and uphold the principles of democratic governance.
