Refer news item ‘BSNL to install 3 more mobile towers in Kargil’ Oct 6.
It seems that the BSNL has woken up to the problems of people of this far-flung region.
The people have been experienced great problems in absence of effective communication network, particularly by those who live in remote areas like Shimsha, Kharbu, Hardess etc. Even landline connectivity does not exist here. The people living in these areas usually rush to Kargil or Drass for making a call or two to their relatives onwards working or studying at places like Kashmir or Jammu. Even within the region, it is becoming very difficult to connect with one another. In the backdrop of this situation, the BSNL authorities are requested to expand area of connectivity so that most of places can be brought under communication network.
