SRINAGAR, July 18: Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today called for expediting work on land acquisition to make Indian Institute of Management (IIM) out-campus functional in Kashmir.
The Minister chaired a meeting in this regard here this morning. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Director Colleges Prof Tibet Baqal, Custodian General, In-charge IIM Jammu, Joint Director Planning HED and other concerned.
The Minister was informed that a DPR for Rs 163.92 crore has been formulated for development of the proposed site at Narkara, Budgam by concerned departments/agencies.
Besides, modernization of diversion channel including extension at Narkara Budgam Nambal (Marshy land) by Irrigation and Flood Control Department from Peerbagh to Narbal Flood Spill channel at a cost of Rs 58.78 crore was taken up for discussion.
The Minister asked the officials to submit all revenue extracts of State land measuring 1600 kanals including small patches of private land for approach road at Nambal-e-Narkara. He also directed NIT Srinagar to expedite soil investigation of the site. He further asked them to visit the Narkara IIM out-campus site to finalize the proposed site within a week.
