JAMMU, Sept 15: Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha Constit-uency along with MLA West & State President BJP, Sat Sharma, MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, MLa Chamb Krishan Bhagat chaired a meeting with the executing agencies of construction of four laning of Jammu -Akhnoor National Highway here today.
Jugal Kishore, while addressing the meeting said that Jammu Akhnoor Highway is the most important road as traffic from twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri besides Akhnoor and Khour tehsils plies through this road. The road observes high congestion of traffic during peak hours and gets choked with the traffic Jam. The maximum accidents take place on this road due to traffic jam and over speeding. The widening and four lanning of the road is the utmost need of the hour and work for the same should be started immediately, he added.
He said it was also decided in the current DISHA meeting held that the status of the road would be reviewed separately so that all the departments involved can render their full co-operation to execute the construction work of the road. Jugal further directed the officers that the documentation and formalities should be completed within three months so that the construction of the road be started at the earnest.
Vijay Kumar General Manager NHIDCL explained the process of completion of DPR and alignment work of the road and stated that it would be submitted to the Ministry of Surface Transport very Soon. He said the required documents would be obtained by the concerned departments very soon to mark their expenditure and DPR would be finalized by measuring all concepts. The team of NHIDCL and Consultants of the DPR explained their role and made a commitment to work more hard to start the work on this road.
State president, BJP & MLA West, Sat Sharma said that work on four lanning of Akhnoor road will be started from the Fourth Tawi bridge which falls in Jammu West Constituency and this will help in decreasing the congestion on roads in this area also .MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma & MLA Chamb Krishan Bhagat also assured their support and said that they will provide their full co-operation to start the work on the road. They complimented the MP to take interest in the valuable project which is the primary demand of the whole province.
Rajeev Kumar Ranjan District Development Commi-ssioner Jammu, Superintending Engineer PWD Hamid Sheikh, Superintending Engineer PHE Kuldip Mangotra , Irrigation & Flood Control Dept, Land Acquisition and other administrative staff were also present in the meeting.
