JAMMU, Nov 14: Minister for Finance Dr Haseeb A Drabu today asked the IT Department to expedite work on generation of central database having all necessary information of the Government employees so that it can be utilized for e-governance purpose.
The Minister said this during a meeting convened to review the progress on Centralized Personal Information System (CPIS), here today.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance, Navin K Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary, General Administration Department, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Director General, Accounts & Treasuries Altaf Hassan Mirza, Secretary, Information Technology Department Saugat Biswas, senior officers of Finance Department, representatives of NIC J&K and IT Expert from JKEGA.
The meeting was informed that information of around 3 lakh employees has been generated in the database till date and work on the remaining is in progress.
Dr Drabu said the salaries of the Government employees will be disbursed on the basis of the database being generated by IT Department from December 2018 onwards and for this the generation of database should be done at the earliest.
The Minister asked the IT Department to explore all the possible uses of the database and consider it as a ‘Digital Asset’ which can be used for overall human resource management and for employees related welfare measures.
He also asked the department to come up with comprehensive document of all ongoing projects so these can be expedited and the use of technology is increased in the governance process.
Dr Drabu pitched for placing IT Advisor in every Government Department so that the IT related works can be executed in a smooth manner. He also asked IT Department to share the data with Finance and General Administration Departments for its better utilization.
The Minister said that IT reforms will surely transform the governance and all the required efforts should be put in for implementation of e-governance.
