But, nowadays cyber security is not just securing your data, assets or organisation but firstly securing you because with a tremendous increase in cyber threats and cyber-crimes it is found that 70% of the people are victim of social engineering, phishing, cyber-drama, vishing, fraud advertisements and through social media scams.

“Filch world of fake job advertisements”
” Fake job advertisement is exactly as it sounds”
Basically it is a vacancy that simply doesn’t exist. These can be for exciting ‘opportunities’ for abroad or work-from-home roles.
Action Fraud reported that 18-24 year olds are the most targeted.
The impact of COVID-19 on the global world of work pushed millions of people into unemployment, underemployment and working poverty and this led to an increase in fake job advertisements.
Here is an example to illustrate how it takes place.
A catchy advertisement highlighting content writing or Data entry Work from home with daily earning ofRs.5000and people suffering from unemployment or students who want to earn money fall prey for it.
The fake advertisers give you a content writing of about 1000-2000 pages and somehow you manage to write and submit it to the company, waiting for the payment. After sometime you notice, an email is sent at your inbox and it highlights that due to ugly or not upto mark content of their choice they are firing you with a fine of Rs 5000 -10,000 approx. and now the victim is startled after reading it.
Now ,here comes the twist if the victim is aware of cyber laws or cyber helplines he would immediately contact them, but if he/she is not aware he would deny paying amount and then the fraudsters will alarm him by quoting that if the victim does not pay the required amount a case would be filed at the court. ‘To scare the wits of someone ‘ they send fake message claiming to be from court and then being helpless and extremely frightened, the victim immediately pays the fine and hence the fraudsters are successful in deriving out the money and victim suffers.
How to Differentiate between Fake job advertisements and Real job advertisements.
* The personal Criteria: Real job ads will come from a with a professional email signature, and the email should be a work email address rather than a personal domain such as Hotmail or google mail. Check the recruiters Linked In profile.
* Financial Privacy: Real recruiters will never ask you for personal information such as bank details or your credit score. If someone responds to your job application with a request for your bank account number or aadhar card number of a favour to transfer money for them, this is a fake job advert serving a financial scam.
* Online Presence: Check out for the job profile on its official site and get details of every employee. Real Recruiters and job agencies will have their official sites, active social media channels and plenty of case study and testimonial’s to study.
* Branding: Check the spelling grammar and quality of content and images.
Real recruitment agencies with real job ads will be proud of their company brand and want to show it in the best possible light, which extends to all online and offline channels
Prevention steps against fake advertisement for jobs:
Step 1: Always check the name of the recruiter along with a company email address mentioned in the advertisement.
Step 2: Check for the email address of the person advertising, should not be a personal mail.
Step 3: High remuneration packages.
Step 4: If any respectable company makes a job offer, they will not shy away from stating their identity.ie check their logo, words used, website name.
