Exit polls: Lotus set to bloom in Assam, leaves still rules the roost in Bengal

NEW DELHI: After facing drubbings in Delhi and then in Bihar, good news at last is being predicted for the BJP from the electoral battlefield of Assam with exit polls clearly showing a huge victory for the saffron party in the North Eastern state.

On the other hand, Trinamool Congress, headed by Mamata Banerjee, seems to be on path of returning to power for the second consecutive term, if the outcome of the exit polls is to be believed.

Axis My India for India Today TV forecast a big victory for BJP in Assam with 79 to 93 seats while the C-Voter have predicted 57 seats for it. If the predictions come true, this would be for the first time that the Lotus will bloom in the North East.

Three pollsters have shown a clear edge for the Trinamool in West Bengal, with the party set to get between 167 and 253 seats. While ABP Aanda predicted 178 seats for the ruling party, C-Voter have it 167 and Axis My India poll giving the Trinamool as many as 233 to 253 seats. (AGENCIES)
