UDHAMPUR, June 25: Former MLA and Panthers Party president Balwant Singh Mankotia has demanded Toll tax exemption in Jammu during the Amarnath Yatra
“Few days back, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir issued a order for exemption of toll tax in Kashmir during Amarnath Yatra period, which is appreciable but Divisional Commissioner Jammu has failed to take early step for similar relaxation in Jammu region,” he said while addressing a press conference, here today.
The NPP president mentioned that there are three toll plazas falling in Jammu region and even Yatris as well as Langar committee members are forced to pay toll tax in all the three toll Plazas i.e Lakhanpur, Ban and Nashri, which is unacceptable.
Mankotia appealed the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to issue same order of exemption of toll tax for all kinds of vehicles during Amarnath Yatra period soon to ensure free movement of Amarnath Yatra vehicles on the National Highway. He informed that in a couple of days, he will also submit memorandum to Div Com Jammu in this concern.
Mankotia stressed that the Panthers Party is continuously on roads against the hike in ban toll plaza rates which should be revised soon. “Hike in toll tax rates in ban toll plaza is pinching the pocket of common man,” he said and appealed to Div Com Jammu to issue order of exemption of toll tax during Amarnath Yatra.
JKNPP leader Mastaan Singh and Youth vice president Pawan Singh were also present during the press conference.
