We were familiar with the adage “The pen is mightier than the sword”, which it definitely is but in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district, brave unarmed people humbled two heavily armed and wanted terrorists of Lashkar-e- Toiba (LeT) outfit and thus created an example of its own, giving place to a new adage, ”Simple courage and determination are mightiest than the sword” by nabbing and trapping heavily armed militants who definitely were up to satanically “doing something big”. It manifests yet again that weapons, arsenal, bombs, bullets and guns meant to kill innocents in a burst of utter mental bankruptcy and at the behest of an enemy of this country, make the carriers frustrated and undone from within and the resultant reprimand of their inner conscience to them, undoubtedly meet with an end of disgust and dishonour. Their involvement in many blasts and camouflaging as innocents can be seen in that one of the nabbed militant had been working as IT cell of Minority Wing of a leading political Party. New experiences rather recklessness in not making some prior enquiries about the persons holding positions in political parties can only result in unknowingly providing a disguise to such dangerous criminals.
We, however, salute the concerned brave persons of Mahore who, with bare ”ordinary” but ordained hands nabbed two heavily armed militants, tied them with ropes like petty criminals and handed them over to the Police. While such a rare but increasingly daring act of bravery of the concerned persons which could even have caused them grievous physical harm, deserves accolades. They have set an example for others that really where there was a will and a strong will, there was definitely the way and the successful way too. However, at the same time this act of courage and bravery heralds a significant change and a shift in the thinking of the people. The people of Jammu and Kashmir ,who now appear to be totally fed up with and quite tired of a long spell of mayhem of blood spilling and other losses by means of a proxy war of terrorism running into over four decades in a row , want now an early end to it to be enable to breathe in ”an open clean and safe air”. For seeing it fructifying into a reality at the earliest, it is time to call the bluff of these foes of humanity by giving a fight, fist to fist, to them who at the saying, sponsoring, indoctrination and support of a belligerent neighbour do not hesitate to burn their own houses by harming and attempting to destroy peace, progress and development of their own country.
These highly mistaken, misled and deluded people must now seriously ponder over the fact as to what they were going to achieve by joining militancy. How many would they kill, in the literal sense, and what they or their mentors achieved all these 40 years by killing and spilling blood of innocents including women and children. What would, therefore, they achieve in future too excepting meeting an ignominious end thus devastating their own families. It would be advisable, therefore, in their own interests and their families’ interests to leave the path of destruction and instead join the mainstream, do political activities, fight elections- all under the law of the land – and as per the constitution of the country. Not only in one or two or three places in Jammu and Kashmir but wherever this scourge and blot of militancy is found, people in large numbers must put in all efforts to root it out — lock, stock and barrel.
Anyway, deservedly, Rs.5 lakh from the Lieutenant Governor and Rs.2 lakh from the Director General of Police respectively as cash reward for the concerned brave persons of Mahore having been announced for this feat is accompanied by tons of praises, hailing and showering of kudos from thousands of people across the Union Territory.
