Excise sleuths destroy 300 Kg Lahan, illicit liquor

JAMMU, Sept 7: Sleuths of J&K Excise Department today conducted raids in RS Pura and Bishnah areas and destroyed about 300 Kg Lahan and some bottles of illicit liquor recovered from these areas.
According to a spokesman, Excise teams led by ETO City Excise Range South, Naeem Moughal and ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Suresh Sharma, a series of raids were conducted today in Bishnah and RS Pura Excise Ranges at villages Deoli, Makhanpur, Salehar, Kothey Bulandey, Kothey Salehar, Kotlimian Fateh, Kotli Charkan and Tarachak, to arrest the menace of illicit distillation.
He said that during the course of raids, one lady namely Neelam Kumar wife of late Surjeet Kumar, resident of Kothey Salehar, was arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act for possession of 2 bottles of illicit liquor.
“Approximately 300 Kg of Lahan and five bottles of illicit liquor made from Lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health, were also recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot”, he added.
The raids were conducted overall under the supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K, T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Nagendra Singh Jamwal. The raiding team was also assisted by Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Manvinder Pal Singh and Sandeep Kumar.
