NOWSHERA, May 31: Excise Department destroyed 5000 kg of Lahan in Forest areas of Nowshera Tehsil during different raids carried out to eradicate the menace of illicit liquor in Excise subrange Rajouri.
On the directions of Excise Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner Executive Kusum Sharma and under the direct supervision of Narinder Singh, Excise and Taxation officer, Excise Range Rajouri- Poonch, a team of Excise Sub-range Rajouri led by ETO along with Inspector Mohd Parvez Ahmed, conducted series of raids at Chowki Handan Nonyal Gohra and Forest areas of Tain Mahal and adjoining areas of Tehsil Nowshera.
In the process 5000 kg of Lahan raw material was recovered from state land and later destroyed on the spot. Addl SP Nowshera, M R Giri said that Police have constituted different teams to keep check over drug trafficking in the areas and they are also conducting raids at different locations.
