Excise Deptt destroys over 1400 kgs of Lahan

KATHUA, Mar 6: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, the Excise Department Kathua has tightened its noose against violators of the various provisions of the J&K Excise Act in Jammu division.
Under the supervision of Excise Commissioner, Mohd. Javed Khan and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Ghanshyam Singh, the a team of Excise sleuths led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, ETO Eradication Wing Jammu, Suraj Chander Singh along with Inspectors Arun Kumar & Shadi Lal, Sub Inspector Prashant Mathur raided the Budhi, Saktachak, Dhabwal, Mirpur Jaggu, Dadoli, Sumwan and Persochak villages of district Kathua to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
In the process more than 1400 kilograms of Lahan, one working still and 25 pouches, five bottles of illicit liquor which is highly hazardous and injurious to health were recovered by the raiding team from the State land and later destroyed on spot by Excise team in Kathua.
