JAMMU, Aug 22: Excise Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir Rajesh Kumar Shavan has concluded four days tour of remote areas of Udhampur.
The visit was aimed at gearing up the field units of the Excise Department and to review the preparedness and alertness of the department to check violation of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and stoppage of bootlegging.
He visited remote areas like Lati, Dudu, Basantgarh and Ramnagar and also met selected citizens and their representatives to seek their cooperation in fight against illicit distillation and drug peddling.
Officers of Revenue, Police and Excise Department were sensitized for their joint role in combating this menace. He also issued directions for conduct of awareness camps in schools/colleges once the COVID-19 situation improves and the institutes are opened.
It is pertinent to mention here that last month Excise Commissioner visited Kupwara, Bandipora, Srinagar, Gurez and Tulail to review functioning of department.
