Exchange Programme for North East youth in Jammu from Mar 10-15

JAMMU, Mar 8: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Jammu under Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is going to organize North East Youth Exchange Programme at Saraswati Dham, Jammu from March 10 to 15.
This was announced today by SS Kashyap, Deputy Director, NYKS, Jammu, along with others while addressing a press conference here today. He revealed that a total of 275 contingents from different states i.e. Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram and Sikkim are going to take part in this week-long programme at Jammu.
The objective of the programme is to provide an opportunity to youth of eight North Eastern states to visit different places of the country to understand the socio-economic development, cultural ethos, language, lifestyles of the people depicting unity in diversity aspect of our national life and social and financial inclusion programme of the Government.
Kashyap said that the inaugural function of the programme will be held at Government Polytechnic, Vikarm Chowk Auditorium, Jammu in which Member of Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma, will be chief guest while Shamsher Singh Manhas, MP Rajya Sabha, and MoS Transport will also grace the occasion.
On March 11, Minister of State in PMO and DoNER, Dr Jitendra Singh will be the chief guest at Saraswati Dham, where he will interact with the youth of North East before the contingent of youth visits industrial area, Bari Brahmana, Rural Youth Club and Mahila Mandal, to share their experiences.
There will be group discussion, lectures and presentation of cultural programmes on March 13 followed by interaction with Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan on next day while on March 15, there will be a lecture on nationalism, national integration, the role of youth in nation building activities and concluding function. The programme is sponsored by Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Kashyap further disclosed that NYKS Jammu is going to deploy volunteers in each block of Jammu and Samba for the year 2017-18. The application form can be had from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu or the website of NYKS i.e. www.nyks.org for online NYV selection. The last date of application is March 25 and interview will be held on March 28. The selected NYV will be paid Rs 5000 per month as honorarium.
