Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 23: The State Vigilance Organization has booked some officers of the Education Department and former members of State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People for siphoning Government scholarship of the students. A case FIR number 15/2014 Police Station VOK has been registered under Section 5(1) (C), (d) r/w 5(2) PC Act 2006 and 120-B, 468,471 &409 RPC against the accused officers and members of Advisory Board. An enquiry conducted into the allegations of mishandling of funds allotted by the Government on account of scholarship of Pahari Speaking/Gujjar and Bakerwal students revealed that in the year 2009-10 and 2010-11, Mohammad Syed Shah, the then ZEO Vilgam and Gh Mohi-ud-Din Wani the then ZEPO Vilgam, hatched a criminal conspiracy with Abdul Majid Zindadil then member the State Advisory Board of Development of Pahari speaking people/headmaster of zone Vilgam and prepared fake and forged lists of Gujjar/Bakerwal and Pahari speaking students for showing disbursement of Rs 6.27 lakh as scholarship. In the similar manner in the year 2010-11 the then ZEPO Gh Mohi-ud-Din Wani prepared fake and forged lists of Gujjar/Bakerwal and Pahari speaking students and by incorporating non-existing students of the two categories in the education Zone Vilgam authenticated by the then ZEO Vilgam Ali Mohammad Dar. These officers in a criminal conspiracy with each other and in furtherance with Headmaster of zone Vilgam Sonaullah (I/C Scholarship) ZEO office Vilgam, Abdul Majid Zindadil, member State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari speaking people, Mohammad Yaseen Badana then member G&B Advisory Board District Kupwara have shown disbursement of Rs 12.10 lakh as per the fictitious acquaintance/disbursement register. The verification further revealed that these public servants by abuse of their official positions misappropriated an amount of Rs 6.23 lakh by showing the number of students as 1984 as against 996 of Pahari/ G&B students thereby causing corresponding loss to the State exchequer.

Srinagar, May 23: National Conference leaders today paid glorious tributes to Late Mirwaiz Ghulam Nabi Hamdani on his 55th death anniversary.
Recollecting the contributions of Mirwaiz Ghulam Nabi Hamdani to the people of Kashmir, Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Working President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and NC General Secretary Advocate Sheikh Nazir Ahmed said that Mriwaiz Hamdani was a learned religous luminary and scholar who had been bestowed with spirtuality and enlightenment and had contributed to the cause of Islam and political awakening of the people of this State.
National Conference leaders said Mirwaiz Hamdani’s contributions and sacrifices in the Quit Kashmir Movement against the Dogra rulers would be mentioned in history in golden letters. Mirwaiz Hamdani was incarcerated in various jails for his staunch and revolutionary views and ideology but never dithered from his stand.
The National Conference leaders have said that Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah had close relations with the Mirwaiz-e-Hamdani family and the family had stood by Sheikh Abdullah through thick and thin.
