JAMMU, Nov 18: Former Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Lahore, Prof Khairat Mohammed Ibn-e-Rasa today visited University of Jammu and met Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice-Chancellor, JU, in latter’s office chamber.
During the informal discussions, Prof Rasa invited JU VC to visit Lahore along with team of officials from Jammu University for further exploring common areas of academic and cultural interest.
Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Dr Dawood Iqbal Baba and some relatives of Prof Rasa were also present during the meeting.
Prof Khairat Mohammed Ibn-e-Rasa, who is on two-week visit to Jammu and Kashmir, arrived here on November 2 and visited his birth-place Bhaderwah.
Son of legendary Urdu and Kashmiri poet Rasa Javedani and maternal uncle of reputed Urdu writer and columnist Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Prof Khairat was born at Bhaderwah on October 5, 1926.
He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Multan University Pakistan. He also served as Vice-Chancellor Al-Khair University in PoK. He remained Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University Lahore from 1976 to 1984.
