Ex-Sarpanch’s house ransacked

Srinagar, Apr 5: Unidentified persons last night ransacked house of a former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Sarpanch at Nagbal area of South Kashmir’s poll-bound Shopian district.
A police officer said that unidentified persons knocked door of the house of Abdul Qayoom Sheikh at Urpora village of Nagbal in the Shopian yesterday at around 8.30 pm. “The door was, however, not opened from inside and these persons broke window panes and glasses of the house,” the officer said, adding that no one was, however, hurt.
He said that it was not immediately known whether the Sarpanch was present inside his house. The official said the identity of the attackers has not been ascertained so far but sources said that they were suspected militants. Last month, militants killed a former Sarpanch at Kakapora area of Pulwama district.
