Ex-Sarpanch among two attacked with sharp edged weapons

JAMMU, Sept 19: Two persons including an ex-Sarpanch were attacked with sharp edged weapons by a defeated Sarpanch candidate and his sons in Marh area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, two neighbours namely Vijay Kumar (ex-Sarpanch) son of Rattan Lal and Rajinder Kumar son of Bodh Raj engaged in a verbal duel last night at about 8 PM over last Sarpanch elections. Both accused each other for their defeat in the elections and in the fit of rage Vijay slapped Rajinder.
“After some time, Rajinder Kumar along with his brother Arun Kumar and some others reached Vijay’s house to take revenge. They broke their entry gate, damaged their vehicle and thrashed Vijay and his two sons, Amit Kesari and Sumit Kesari,” the official said.
He said later around midnight, Amit Kesari, Sumit Kesari and three others namely Nikhil, Rahul and Manu carrying sharp edged weapons reached Rajinder’s house and attacked him and his family members with sharp edged weapons. “In the attack, Rajinder and his brother Arun received serious injuries. They have been shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment,” he added.
The official further informed that a case FIR No 344/2019 under sections 307, 323, 147/RPC 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at police station Domana and further investigation is underway. He said while two main accused, Amit Kesari and Sumit Kesari have been arrested three others are on large. “a sword and a ‘kirch’ used in the crime have also been seized,” he added.
