Ex-MLA passes away, PCC pays tributes

JAMMU, Sept 2: Former MLA Chhamb and veteran Congress leader, Thakur Diwakar Singh passed away after prolonged illness at Narayana Hospital, Katra this morning.
He was 84 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Family sources said that former Legislator was on keeping well for the last several months . He was on dialysis and undergoing treatment at Narayana Hospital, Katra. He breathed his last during early morning at around 5 am today due to cardiac arrest. Later, his body was shifted to his Gandhinagar residence in Jammu. A large number of relatives, friends and people from political circles attended last rites of the departed Congress leader at Jogi Gate cremation ground this afternoon.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the sad demise of former MLA and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee paid tributes to Th Diwakar Singh, Ex-MLA and Ex-Chief Parliamentary Secretary J&K Govt. In a condolence meeting held at PCC office here, the leaders paid tributes to the departed leader and expressed profound grief and shock over the sad demise of Diwakar Singh and described him as a dedicated and sincere solider of the party who devoted his entire life in the service of people and the Congress party.
A two- minutes silence was observed in the meeting to pray for peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
Prominent among those who condoled the demise included PCC chief GA Mir, Dharam Pal Sharma, Madan Lal, Tara Chand, RS Chib, Raman Bhalla, RS Chib, M S Niaz, G M Saroori, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Shiv Dev Singh, Balwan Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Rajiv Saraf and others.
