Ex-DyCM assails BJP for its failure on all fronts

JAMMU, June 1: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tara Chand expressed dismay over the poor state of affairs of the health sector which has drastically failed in catering to the needs of patients infected by the Corona.
In a press statement issued here today, former DyCM expressed serious concern over shortage of vaccine and questioned the preparedness of BJP Government to deal with the second wave of COVID-19, which has devastated thousands of families across the country.
“With nearly lakhs of reported infected cases per day and several thousand deaths in the Country on daily basis, the situation has literally and figuratively gone out of control. Only God knows how many people have been actually infected and how many exactly died. The Government’s conduct does not merit mere condemnation but mourning as well. It failed to save the lives of its people,” he alleged,
“The Corona deaths could have been avoided through proper care and much needed life saving drugs. The victims probably could not avail of the same and lost their lives. The life saving drugs, Oxygen beds and ventilators in hospitals have in fact became a prerogative of the powerful and influential. The poor and marginalised have hardly any access to the limited healthcare facilities especially during the ongoing panedemic. Their lives have been reduced  to a mere statistic. BJP Government must own the responsibility of the casualties and suffering of the people,” Tara Chand said.
Former DyCM demanded rehabilitation of wine traders who have lost their livelihood after the New Excise Policy of J&K UT Administration. These traders were in this trade for five decades and the suddenly Government took the decision to introduce e-aution was destroyed their livelihood. These traders were protesting for last several months  but the administration paid no heed to their protests. Traders who have lost their business in the new Excise Policy, directly and indirectly affecting 30, 000 families. He made an appeal to the Lt Governor to look into their plight and announce a rehabilitation policy for them.
He also demanded a high level probe into alleged illegal Mining activities and operations of the stone crusher units near the Tawi river. He claimed that the Govt has lost huge revenue due to the malpractices of corrupt people.
