JAMMU, Jan 7: The events in Junior categories concluded in the ongoing State Chess Championship 2018 at Nek Hotel, below Gummat, here today.
The Championship is being organized by All J&K Chess Association and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
Deeba Gulzar won gold medal in girls under-7 category, while Laksh Chaudhary clinched gold in under-7 boys category.
In under-9 girls, Radhika Palgotra bagged gold medal while in under-9 boys, Saksham Sabarwal won gold.
In girls under-11 category, Vridhi bagged gold while in under-11 boys, Master Saransh won gold.
In girls under-13 category, Amrita Gupta won gold while in boys Ayush Gupta claimed gold medal.
In under-15 girls, Zabia Reyaz won the gold while in under-15 boys, Sanyam Gupta bagged gold medal.
In under-17 girls, Avantika Gupta won gold while in boys under-17, Chetan Raina clinched gold.
In under-19 girls, Ojaswani Mengi won the gold while in boys Ashutosh Jamwal claimed gold.
In Senior Women, Versha Rani won the Gold while Bishmah Afshan was runner up.
Shuvdeep Sharma of Kathua district is leading in senior men category with 5 out of 5 wins in 5 rounds.
The final of men’s category will be played tomorrow, which will be followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony at 4 pm.
All the matches were conducted by Vivek Gupta, AR Wani and Anil Kotwal, under the supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta, President, All J&K Chess Association.
Prominent among others present in today’s matches were Arshid Ahmad Kolu, Secretary AJKCA; Sr Vice President AJKCA, AR Wani; Vice Presidents Baldev Raj and Taranvir Singh; Joint Secretaries Ashiq Ahmad, Vikas Nanda, Faisal Farooq and Raj Kumar; Advisor Dr AS Bhatia;Treasurer Khalid Amin and Chief Organizing Secretary Kuljeet Singh Jamwal.
