JAMMU, Mar 11: Reiterating its demand for registration of the students admitted for the session 2011-13 and conducting their exams, the Joint Action Committee of ETT College has announced to go ahead with its proposed Assembly gherao on March 12.
The JAC also announced to continue its ongoing dharna in the premises of J&K Board of School Education at Rehari Jammu till its demands are conceded by the Government.
Talking to media persons, here today, Hari Dutt Shishu, a senior member of the JAC, said that except the removal of BOSE Chairman Sheikh Bashir, who has been recalled by the parent Higher Education Department, the Government has not conveyed any positive response over their demands. “In the prevailing situation, we have no option other than to go ahead with our scheduled programme of Assembly gherao on March 12 and continuing the ongoing dharna,” he explained.
Mr Shishu appealed the Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, who holds the portfolio  of School Education, to intervene into the matter and address the genuine demand of ETT stakeholders. “Further delay in resolution of the demand can prove suicidal for the stakeholders, who include more than ten thousand students  and a number of colleges,” he said.
Welcoming the decision of recalling BOSE Chairman and two others to their parent Department of Higher Education, the JAC of ETT College demanded a high level probe into alleged irregularities committed by Sheikh Bashir during his tenure in the Board.
