Estimates Committee visits G B Panth Hospital

SRINAGAR, Sept 15: A Committee on Estimates of Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman, Ch. Mohammad Ramzaan conducted a visit to G B Panth Hospital, Sonawar and took stock of the measures taken by the administration for providing better medical and health care facilities to the patients.
Mr Ramzaan was accompanied by MLA, Dr Mustafa Kamal, officers of Health and Medical Education Department.
The Committee sought comprehensive details from the hospital administration and visited various blocks of hospital including Neonatal Wards, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), X-Ray, MRI, CT Scan and ECG blocks. Besides having interaction with attendants, a serious discussion was held with the medical and paramedical staff of the hospital.
Committee was informed by the Medical Superintended, Dr Muneer Masoodi that despite shortage of human resources and medical equipments, medical and paramedical staff is working very hard round the clock. Various steps have been taken by the hospital administration reduce the infant mortality to a great extent.
It was also stated that free Disposable Tubing and Humidifier for every new neonate on ventilators and free disposable unit for Bubble CPAP’s have been made available in the hospital.
Hospital administration put forth various suggestions to visiting committee members for the further improvement of the hospital and demanded for creation of Biomedical Engineering Cell, Multi Slice CT Scan Machine and Improvement in ECO system facilities, Computerized Radiography System, and new X-Ray plant.
The committee observed that various constructive steps have been taken and further concrete measures are necessary to be initiated for providing better medical and health care facilities to the infants and to  reduce the neonatal mortality in the hospital.
Committee observed that hospital has no proper ventilation system and took serious note of it. It was observed that escalators are not in use because of non availability of operators.
