Estates employees stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, July 23: Employees from Estates Department today held protest demonstration against the higher authorities in the office complex of Dy Director at Manda here today.
The employees from the department, under the banner of Coordination Committee of Estates Employees Association/ Union (Jammu province), led by senior leaders Prem Singh Bawa and Yash Paul Sharma,  assembled in the office premises of  Deputy Director Estates Jammu and started protest demonstration at around 11 am. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
The workers strongly protested against the recent order issued by the Deputy Director for the deployment of Chowkidars in the stores at Gandhi Nagar. They urged upon the Director Estates to intervene into the matter and withdraw this controversial order. They alleged that several other pending demands of the employees were  not addressed by the higher authorities despite several representations and meetings.
The main demands included reorganisation of  department, provision of two and half day extra pay to the field staff, regularization of daily wagers, time bound promotions, release of wages of need based workers, conduct of DPC, clear all SRO-43 cases, transfer of employees who are sitting for more than ten years, construction of the own building of Dy Director Estates Jammu and release of tools  and uniform of all class-IV employees who are discharging their duties round the clock. They warned to go on indefinite strike if their demands are not met by July 30.
Rashpal, Tilak Raj, Puran Chand, Rajesh Kumar, Sagar Massih, Subash Chander, Jeet Raj, Shambu Singh and others were also present.
