Establish screening checkpoints for nomadic community: TDF, PDF

DODA, Apr 26: Keeping in view the COVID-19 pandemic, the various social organisation of Chenab Valley including Thathri Development Front (TDF), Padder Development Forum (PDF) urged the Divisional Commissioner to establish checkpoints for screening of nomadic community during their migration from plains to hilly.
In a joint statement issued by Ram Singh Chauhan, chief pattern of PDF, KK Rao, president TDF, Mohinder Rana, chairman of Paddar Youth Forum, Bidya Lal, Lumberdar Kundal and Bhupinder Singh, chairman of Kundal Development Committee have expressed apprehensions about the spread of COVID-19 in the upper reaches of entire Chenab valley particularly in Sub-Division Paddar, Thathri and Dachhan due to migration of nomadic population along with their herds of goats.
They said the entire valley is still untouched with this pandemic but now fears are looming large as the nomadic community has started migration towards upper reaches without any pre test and whole population are apprehensive because nomadic population have social links with locals to meet their needs of rations and other essential items.
They administration should establish screening checkpoints at migration routes so that not a single coronavirus positive person can enter in the virgin valley.
