JAMMU, June 9: Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ) has alleged that thousands of industrial workers are suffering as the Model ESIC Hospital at Bari Brahmana has been converted into Covid-19 hospital.
In a meeting of the FoIJ held here today under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan, the senior members present including Rattan Dogra, Jitender Aul, Deepak Dhawan and others expressed serious concern over the issues related to problems being faced by thousands of Industrial workers due to closer of OPD/IPD services in ESIC Hospitals it has been converted into the Hospital for Conora patients. .
They pointed out that at present around 75,000 registered insured persons are getting the facilities of OPD/IPD from the ESIC Hospital, Bari Brahmana for which the employers as well as Industrial workers are paying their hard earn money to ESI Corporation for their treatment and it is unjustified on the part of District Administration for the conversion of ESIC Hospital Bari Brahmana into COVID-19 Hospital and also shifted the Corona positive cases in the Hospital resulting the entry of Industrial workers banned for any type of day to day Medical assistance and specialized treatment, and in case of any emergency, the unit holders have no option but to send the workers to Govt Medical College, Jammu for treatment at their own expenses and the IP’s have no option but to get their treatment from private hospitals/clinics for their day to day Medical problems.
It is worthwhile to mention here that around 700-800 insured persons are visiting this hospital on daily basis for taking OPD services and it is unjustified for the District Administration to convert ESIC Hospital into COVID-19 Hospital resulting great resentment among the Industrial workers due to non- availability of Health care services in ESIC Hospital.
The position is more serious as the Lab investigations are not being conducted in the ESIC Hospital and medicines worth Rs 75 lakhs is lying in the Hospital which shall be expired in September 2020, if not used in time and huge quantity of ration lying in Hospital kitchen which is meant for in-patients and the same is going to be spoiled due to non functioning of ESIC Hospital.
The FoIJ sought intervention of Lt. Governor into the matter and said that several cancer and kidney patients on dialysis are suffering very badly due to non-functioning of ESIC Hospital.
