KATHUA, Dec 16: A meeting of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) local committee for Kathua-Samba areas was held here today which was presided by Nirmal Sharma, Labour Commissioner and attended by Anil Sharma, Special Secretary, Labour & Employment, Dr. A.D. Singh, Administrative Medical Officer, ESI Scheme, K.C. Sharma, Executive President, Chenab Textile Mills and Asfaq Ahmad Chauhan, President, Chenab Textile Mills Employees Union, and other representatives from Small Arms Workers Union, Aman Paper Mills Kathua, Milano Bathroom Fittings, Samba.
The meeting was conducted by Member Secretary Ramesh Lal, Branch Manager, ESIC Branch Office, Kathua. Regional Director Arvind Kumar also participated with his other officers to provide assistance and required inputs to the Committee. He supplemented by stating that all necessary measures are being taken to address the problems of member employees under the scheme and regular informative advertisements are being given for their guidance. He also requested that any pending issue can be directly brought to his notice for early resolution.
Several important decisions such as resolution for posting of ESIC State Medical Commissioner at Jammu to facilitate faster processing of reimbursement cases, tie-up with Diagnostic Centres at Kathua and Samba for clinical tests facilities for patients undergoing treatment at ESI Dispensaries at Kathua, tie-up with Chemists shops for medicines which are not available in ESI Dispensaries, starting of ambulance from Kathua to ESIC Model Hosptial Bari Brahmna were taken.
The Committee discussed early finishing of ESI Dispensary building at Samba which would cater to around 5000 employees and their family members working there. The Committee also discussed the provisions of ESI Hospital in Kathua – Samba area for the benefits of its 29000 employees and 145000 beneficiaries under the Scheme. The Labour Commissioner stated after visiting the ESI Dispensary building that the same was in unhygienic condition requested ESIC to take over the same under Sub-lease or MOU for reconstruction of Dispensary-cum-Branch Office.
