JAMMU, Dec 9: RS Pura police re-arrested a Bangladeshi national, who had escaped from the custody of Arnia police station yesterday, from forward village of Agre Chak in RS Pura when he was trying to cross over to Pakistan from the International Border.
SDPO RS Pura Diwakar Singh said police, VDCs and other security agencies had cordoned off forward villages in RS Pura sector after the escape of Bangladeshi national Mohammad Saifullah Islam son of Mohammad Siraj Ali R/o Tangyal, Bangladesh from Arnia police station yesterday morning.
In the early hours of this morning, a police constable noticed the Bangladeshi national heading toward Pakistan from a Nullah near forward village of Kharkola and sounded border police post of Agre Chak.
Police arrested him before he could cross over to Pakistan, Mr Singh said, adding the accused has been arrest again and booked under Section 224 RPC at Arnia police station.
The Bangladeshi national had been lodged in Arnia police station for deportation to his country after completion of his jail term when he had escaped from the custody.
Mr Singh added that police have initiated an inquiry against the constables of Arnia police station, whose negligence on duty led to escape of the Bangladeshi national.
