Erratic power supply in Sainik Colony

JAMMU, May 27: Residents of Sainik Colony are suffering badly due to erratic power supply as the tripping of MCBs installed at a height of 25 feet on cemented polls has been a routine problem in the area.
The residents of the area said these MCBs trip sometime during day or at night and the consumers while approaching the Departmental staff, they show helplessness in removing the fault.
They said the concerned authorities of the Department even do not bother to provide ladders to the ground workers. This is a repeated problem since the new wiring system was installed in the area. Sooner or later the concerned Department has to remove or modify this system which is a share wastage of the money and puts a question mark on the intelligence and intentions of the approving , designing and consulting authorities and company as well, they added.
They said the neutral wires of consumers which are mostly either of copper or aluminum which are connected to a stainless steel conductor. Since two metals have different heating points so these joints develop regular faults. one of the residents who is a qualified power electronics engineer having a experience of 24 year said that ,it seems we are living in a technologically backward era where after paying we are bound to get these erratic services.
The residents urged the authorities to awake from the deep slumber and relive the people of the problem. They also demanded that the field staff be provided with folding ladders and other equipments to remove the faults taking place often in the area.
