Ensure LPG home delivery in Doda: Ramzan

DODA, July 3: Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan today visited Doda and reviewed transport, stock and supply of essential commodities in the erstwhile district Doda.
DDC, Doda, Mubarak Singh, DDC Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad, ADC Ramban, ADC Kishtwar besides Director CAPD, Transport Commissioner Jammu, Regional Transport Officer and other district officers attended the meeting.
While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that free ration to quake affected families will be provided on chullah basis as already decided by the State Cabinet. He directed DDCs to submit the list of affected families and the quota of free ration required at the earliest.
While reviewing stock position and availability of cooking gas and kerosene oil in the district, the Minister said that the Government has initiated various steps to streamline distribution of cooking gas and K oil in the State. He said all the LPG Service providers at District level, town and Municipality level have been directed to provide cooking gas to the consumers at their doorsteps.
He asked Faridia Gas Agency Doda of Hindustan Petroleum (HP) to ensure home delivery of cooking gas to their consumers. He directed AD Food Doda to monitor and ensure the home delivery of LPG to the consumers.
The Minister said that those people who don’t have ration card to apply for an LPG connection, can now use an electricity bill, electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) besides other identity proof to get the connection.
Regarding sugar supply in the state, the Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir has sent committees of officers to different states to explore and assess the possibility of procuring sugar from there.
Reviewing functioning of Transport Department in the district, the Minister said that the matter regarding additional demand of JKSRTC buses in the region will be discussed and a favourable decision will be taken in this regard. He also directed MD JKSRTC to ensure minimum detention of the buses which are being sent to Jammu for repairing.
Regarding loss of life in accidents in the erstwhile district, Ramzan impressed upon the need of collective efforts of Traffic Police, District Police and Motor Vehicle Department for effective implementation of MV Act. He said safety and security of passengers is the prime concern of the Government and establishment of high tech driving institutes for providing proper training to drivers is under active consideration of the Government.
Other issues discussed in the meeting included construction of Transport Yard/ workshop at Doda, change of jurisdiction of areas of the district presently falling within the jurisdiction of Assistant Director CA&PD Ramban to Assistant Director CA&PD, Doda etc.
