Ensure field readiness, real time response: KPDCL

SRINAGAR, Apr 29: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (KPDCL) has issued directives to all Executive Engineers, instructing them to ensure preparedness to address potential challenges posed by heavy rainfall and associated flood risks.
The directives, issued in accordance with directives from the Chief Secretary, include mapping of flood-prone areas, readiness of equipment and real-time response protocols.
Regarding mapping, the concerned officials have been directed to conduct mapping of flood-prone areas in conjunction with Electric Subdivisions, focusing on safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring real-time response capabilities.
For the stocking of emergency materials, it has been directed to ensure the stocking of materials necessary for the immediate restoration of power supply in emergency situations arising from floods, and keeping mobile substations, vehicles, and cranes in active mode for prompt deployment as required.
The directives state, “Activate empaneled contractors in all Electric Divisions to facilitate swift response efforts. Establish real-time response protocols for the immediate restoration of power supply to critical facilities such as hospitals, water supply schemes, de-watering stations, District & Police Headquarters, and Emergency Control Rooms in the event of floods.”
Furthermore, the nomination of a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in each Electric Division to liaise with stakeholder departments including I&FC, District Administration and KPDCL has also been directed to ensure.
Additionally, all KPDCL staff have been directed to be assigned specific duties, and Divisional Control Rooms are to be established to ensure the effective implementation of management and response strategies, while the Action Taken Report(s) has also been requested on a regular basis.
