JAMMU, Aug 6 : Former Minister and PCC vice president Raman Bhalla has asked the Government to take immediate measures for de-silting of nallahs in various localities of Gandhi Nagar constituency and demanded adequate relief for those affected by the floods causing damage to their house and house hold property.
Bhalla conducted extensive tour of different localities including Sunjawan, Jalalabad, Bilal Colony, Pamposh Colony, Gangyal, Sanjay Nagar and Nanak Nagar areas and took stock of the problems of the people on account of floods due to over flow of various nallahs in these localities. He met the local residents who apprised him of the hardships and damages to their properties in the recent rains.
They complained that the inaction on the part of authorities in their failure to undertake de-silting before the onset of rainy season and the non-repairs of the damaged bandhs around the localities at different places has led to great problems to the residents.
Mr Bhalla demanded immediate steps to undertake necessary repairs and de-silting of nallahs to check over flow and damage to the properties of the people. He demanded immediate compensation and relief after due assessment of the damage to the properties of the individuals.
