Engineers’ delegation takes up issues with Governor

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 1: A joint delegation of State Joint Action Committee of Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Graduate Engineers today called on Governor Satya Pal Malik and projected their issues before him.
The delegation comprising of Farooq Ahmed Ganie (president, J&K CEGA), Gandeep Pargal (president, GEASSOC), Harvrinder Singh (president, JKEEGA), Firdous Ahad Bhat (president, J&K MEGA), Mujeeb Tak and Anil Gupta met the Governor at Raj Bhawan, Jammu for the reddressal of long pending issues confronting the engineering fraternity.
The delegation apprised the Governor about the long pending issues especially the inordinate delay in issuance of the SRO for the already approved “Assured Career Progression” Scheme for engineers. They told the Governor that in spite of the budget announcement and subsequent cabinet approval, the SRO and the necessary rules for the ACP Scheme for engineers have not been issued till date and such an inordinate delay has demoralized the engineering fraternity which, otherwise, is considered as state developmental machinery.
Besides the other issues like regularization of services of engineers, enhancement in FTA to a reasonable rate, redressal of pay disparity and cadre review etc were also discussed threadbare.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that all the issues will be addressed in a time bound manner. However, the Governor gave assurance to issue relevant SRO for implementation of much delayed Assured Career Progression (ACP) Scheme for the engineers.
