JAMMU, Oct 16: Welfare Committee Katra (WCK) members stressed that unemployed youths should be encouraged in agriculture and other allied sectors.
Members of WCK including Shanker Dogra, Rishi Ram Saraf, Balkrishan Purohit, Hansraj Sapolia and Advocate Surinder dwelt upon the need to boost agriculture and its allied sectors like dairy, poultry, vegetables, animal and sheep husbandry, fisheries, sericulture, handlooms, beehive, mushroom growing and organic farming.
They said that the youth belonging to faming community after getting educated do not want to work in fields, adding that they should be encouraged to carry the suitable agricultural or its allied sectors in the commercial big way to earn money.
Broad based planning is needed by the concerned officials after studying the topography of areas not at district level but at tehsil level, which allied sector can generate avenue of revenues for local youths who are interested and ushered up to explore their future in the agricultural and horticultural sectors, they added.
They said that Government aid, cooperation and support are expected at every step for youth if it is seriously pondering upon to boost such sectors.
Village Level Workers, Sarpanchs, Block Development Officers, agricultural line department at district level should be asked to register maximum number of youths-entrepreneurs who are willing to start units with full cooperation and easy financial support of Government from its growing to sell end products, they said.
Government can prove better thereby resorting to new technologies to enhance agri-productivity and production after exploring and exploiting such allied sectors for generating employment and wealth in the State, they added.
