SRINAGAR : A fierce encounter ensued between militants and security forces in the outskirts of the Srinagar city this evening, official sources said.
However, a police spokesman confirming the encounter said operation was going on when the reports last came in.
Sources said security forces launched a reach operation at Ahmad Nagar in the city outskirts following a tip-off about the presence of militants. However, when security forces were sealing a particular area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons.
Security forces also retaliated, they said adding additional security forces have been rushed to the area. Sources said a militant was reportedly killed. The encounter took place hours after two militants were killed after they killed as many policemen in south Kashmir district of Pulwama. (AGENCIES)
