Empowering rural women

Dr Navneet Kour
“Our time is now- our rights, our future needs to be secure”
The way we educate our girls will impact future course of their lives. How we groom them today will definitely have an impact on who they become either as mothers or leaders. We need to do more for the young girls , who are at the make and break of their careers . Poverty can be eradicated by giving them opportunities for education and skill trainings and adopting new skills and techniques. Government should invest more on improving social welfare schemes for young women , girls and create safe spaces for them . We are all born to live, but there are millions amongst us who are robbed of their right to lead a dignified life. We through our NGO support work as volunteers for the rural community empowerment as well as the girls and women of Urban Slums . We may have different languages, religions, skins or colour but one sure thing l know is that we all belong to one which is “Human Race”. Our approach through collective cooperations with the Govt and local authorities focuses on empowering the rural women and girls and the urban slums . As we all know, lack of access to equal opportunities has hindered thousands and thousands of rural women from being in their communities. Let’s all pledge to break this system by identifying and empowering aspiring women in the rural belts who can be motivating leaders with skill education at their door steps . We have achieved through three of our projects through Hamari Kaksha ( Our Classroom), Kabil Sukanya ( Capable Girls ) and Shaksham Nari ( Empowered Women ) under the aegis of NGO Support in providing skills snf creating businesses opportunities for the women of the rural community along with informal education to meet the challenges of eradicating poverty. Let’s all choose to educate the girls and empower women of the rural areas through skill projects ,small units of self help groups can be created keeping in mind the demands of the market in and around the vicinity they live in .
Let us spread awareness about how they can live a sustainable life and gain financial independence before they get married so that they are not dependent . Let’s be change-makers of our society by providing them basic education and skills to encourage them stand on their own and bring a difference . As we all know that education is everyone’s right and it is very critical especially for people staying in rural areas to understand the value of education. In most of the remote areas in our country, parents still feel that girl child is not required to study as they ultimately have to manage home. This is absolutely an unfair expectation as education makes girls stronger and helps them in taking decisions as well as managing home in a better way. It also gives them mental as well as intellectual strength to fight against the ill practices prevalent in our society, such as dowry torture, domestic violence and other crimes against women. I am proud to share that our NGO has transformed more 100 such villages into more awakened places. The things that we scream for our social security, education of poor and many more are already addressed by the Govt and have been declared as a human right for everybody.
It is our responsibility to withstand these and create awareness amongst all for adhering and availing these rights for their good and well being. Support NGO through its reform Programs, i.e Pankh aur Parvaz and Hamari Kaksha (Our Class Room) and Kabil Sukanya ( Capable Girl) NGO Support is working by supporting over 47 informal educational segments in rural and urban slums with the integration of the right education system implementation program, skills programs, enabling the underprivileged women and girls to lay their foundation of a progressive future.
We leverage our long-standing partnerships, to the dedicated government schools, and provide skill resources to build community-driven solutions, spark life-changing innovations and elevate ideas with the help of individuals and social groups , local panchayats and through collaboration with communities around the area of our work.
Employment opportunities for women are very less in India. Even more less job security does the working women have. They face discrimination in every field of work. They aren’t aware of the employment schemes for their benefit. It’s the job of each and every one of us to make the workspace safe and secure for them so that they can help in eradicating poverty through small startups , small enterprises or self employment through self help group’s and cooperative societies.
