Jammu, Mar 6: Emphasizing employment generation and industrial growth as prime concerns of the present dispensation, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash today called for collective efforts from all stakeholders for steering the State’s industrial growth profile to new dimensions.
The Minister stated this while addressing the officers of Industries Department and representatives of various business associations of Jammu region during a meeting held to seek suggestions for the formulation of a new Industrial Policy.
“Industrialists play an essential role in economic and developmental progress, so it should be our prime concern to address their issues in a time bound manner”, the Minister maintained.
The Minister urged the officers to work with utmost proficiency and sincerity for speedy disposal of cases of all stake holders connected with the industrial sector.
“A true spirit of work culture, devotion and hard work should be the main mantra for officers to meet the needs and aspirations of all those connected with the industrial sector”, he added. He assured complete cooperation to the officers and industrialists with the hope that they will also reciprocate his gesture in order to make the State industry prosper and progress.
Elaborating on the salient features of ease of doing business initiative of the Government, Parkash was optimistic about the fact that this will definitely ease the atmosphere for all to work in. In addition, the issues requiring intervention of Central Government would also be taken up with the concerned for an early redressal, he added.
The Minister said that industrially backward areas of the State would also be taken care of besides steps will be taken to harness the potential industrial areas of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions with the help of advanced technological innovations.
Responding to issues raised by the representatives of business associations, the Minister asked the concerned authorities for shifting of DIC Jammu from Exhibition Ground to Udyog Bhawan to facilitate the industrialists and entrepreneurs.
Financial Commissioner I&C, Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, elucidated on the draft of the New Industrial Policy, which envisages simplification of certain procedures and formalities besides better incentives for hassle free industrial growth in the State.
The Minster asked the business associations to take care of interests of the labour class working in their units.
Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director Industries & Commerce gave a detailed presentation regarding the industrial scenario of the State besides elaborating on the upcoming projects like online registration, establishment of land bank and establishment of Industrial clusters in the State and the steps taken by the Directorate of I & C, Jammu under ease of doing business initiative and delegation of powers to General Managers of the DICs.
Secretary I&C, Sourabh Bhagat, Chairman Pollution Control Board,  Abdul Razaq, MD SIDCO MD SICOP and other  senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
