Employees without salary is exploitation

Simple logic of engaging a person in employment is to pay him wages, salaries etc as decided in terms and conditions of employment about the periodicity but generally it is on monthly basis. Wages or salaries are paid as consideration of labour sold to the employer by the worker / employee etc but when the same are not paid for months together, it is not only sheer exploitation but ex-parte violation of terms of employment.
It is astonishing to note that many employees in Power Development Department Srinagar engaged under PM’s package are in a quandary as they do not know whom to approach for payment of their wages since Relief Commissioner Srinagar has failed to transfer requisite funds to the PDD. These are hapless ‘migrant’ employees numbering around 100 working in various capacities in the PDD in Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Baramulla and Kulgam as their salaries are not paid since August last year. When 31000 employees in the PDD are getting their salaries in time every month, what fault is there of these employees should be sorted out by the authorities and payments made forthwith. We have all along been advocating even for Daily Wagers that whatever dues to be paid to the employees should be paid in time or they should not be employed at all.
