JAMMU, July 19: To lodge protest against the proposed privatization of banks,  a demonstration of employees and officers of all public sector banks was held today on 45th anniversary of Bank Nationalization.
The protest was organized under  the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation and employees of different nationalized banks took part in the demonstration.
While addressing the protesters,  Com  Ashwani Pradhan, president PNBOA, exhorted  the bank employees  to  oppose  P J Naik Committee report tooth and nail.
Comrade Arun Kumar Gupta, who is general secretary of  Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation,  drew   the attention towards  significant achievements of the nationalized public sector banks. “The achievements like  expansion of bank branches in rural areas, augmentation of hard-earned savings of the common people as Deposits of the Banks and in deploying the same all segments of the economy with particular reference to the needy priority sectors in the last 45 years are not only unique in our country but also unparalleled,” he said.
“We need to strengthen and expand public sector banking with  more and more Governmental guidance and policies that will ensure vibrant public sector banking,” he stressed and informed that  a list of Jammu & Kashmir State bad Loans-Suit Filed accounts worth Rs one crore and above as on 30/09/2013, was being released.
Others,  who addressed the demonstration included Com Vijay Zutshi, Com  Ganesh Kumar, Com  R K Bamba, Com  Manjit Singh, Com  Sumrita Kher, Com  V K Dutta, Com  Vinod Gupta, Com  Nazir Ahmed, Com  T K Tikoo, Com  Dr  Muhammad Ashfaq, Com  Gurnam Singh, Com  Adarsh Gupta, Com  Rama Kant, Com  Narayani Sheria, Com  Avinash Dogra, Com  Pallavi Gupta and Com  Anil Gupta.
