Employees of PSUs protest in Srinagar, demand pending wages

SRINAGAR: Employees of various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) on Tuesday protested in the summer capital, Srinagar, and demanded wages pending from last several months.

Scores of employees assembled at Press Enclave in the city, under the banner of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Sector Employees and Workers Federation, alleging that they have not been paid wages from last several months. “We have not been paid salaries from last several months due to which we and our families are on the verge of starvation,” the protestors told reporters.

The protestors said that ‘they are finding it very difficult to sustain as they are not able to feed their families due to non-payment of salaries’. “Government made a lot of promises to us, but despite that our salaries have not been paid. We are unable to pay rent and tuition fee of our children,” they said.

They said that the government should come clear about what it wants to do with the PSUs. “If they want to continue these PSU, the government should frame a proper policy for that,” they said.

The demonstrators said that they will further intensify their agitation if their demand was not fulfilled. (AGENCIES)
