Employees to observe strike against advocate’s misbehavior with ADM

kathua, Nov 17: Thousands of Government employees posted in different parts of Kathua district will observe complete strike tomorrow in protest against misbehavior of a practicing lawyer and attempt to assault Additional District Magistrate in his court.
Taking serious note of the incident and the memorandum submitted by various unions of the employees, the District Magistrate, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has written to the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kathua for stern action under law against the erring advocate.
Reports said that Additional District Magistrate had summoned a cable operator, who was illegally operating news channel and telecasting political advertisements over a period of many hours. Advocate Arvind Kumar Gupta appeared for the operator in response to the show cause notice issued by the court of Additional District Magistrate.
During the course of hearing, Advocate Gupta used un-parliamentary language and improper tone in addressing the Additional District Magistrate and even tried to snatch a piece of paper submitted to the ADM. When he was directed to leave the court, he tried to intimidate the ADM and even misbehaved with Koushal Kumar, Junior Assistant and manhandled him. Before leaving the office the advocate even hurled abuses at the security personnel deployed outside the court of ADM. Later, he again entered the court along with a group of people and created scene in the court.
When the incident came to the notice of District Magistrate, he examined the recording of CCTV camera and in the video footage Advocate Gupta was seen using unparliamentary language against ADM and manhandling Junior Assistant and security personnel.
Taking serious note of this, the District Magistrate wrote to the Principal District and Sessions Judge and even sent Compact Disc showing shocking video for perusal and action. “The employees posted in entire district have submitted different memorandums announcing to observe strike tomorrow in protest against the unwarranted act on the part of advocate”, reads the communication of DM to Principal District and Sessions Judge.
The DM has requested the Principal District and Sessions Judge to resolve the matter by a thorough probe and immediate action keeping in view the evidences on record. He has also brought to the notice of Principal District and Sessions Judge that removal of advocate as Special Prosecutor was recommended by his office Vide No.DM/JC/2013-14/290 dated May 16, 2013 since he was acting against the State.
